Question: The look and feel of the family login has changed. Why? Due to the overwhelming popularity and response to our (Wordwares) web-email module, we have seen the number of families receiving emails from the web-email system increase dramatically. We have found it necessary to make improvements to the performance, reliability and security of our web-server, in order to be able to assure delivery of all those additional emails in a timely manner. Part of this effort is a change in the security system for family log-ins so that in the near future families will be able to use usernames and complex passwords, in place of account numbers and PINs. Back to top Question: How do I set up a link on our schools website for parents to use to connect to the LCS Family Login area to access their family information? Your school web administrator can create a link on your website that points to the following URL: http://family.wordwareinc.com. Back to top Question: What changes are needed to the links to the family login area on our school website, beginning March 1, 2010? Your school web-administrator should make a change to the link which parents can follow from your school website to the LCS Family Login area. To make the change, edit the current link (which may or may not contain a custom identifier for your district), and delete the entire URL link. Paste in the following URL: http://family.wordwareinc.com and save the link. Note that the www designation is being removed as well as any custom identifiers. Back to top Question: What should be done if an email failure occurs, when attempting to send out emails to families? There are two separate systems used to send out emails to district families. As of March 2, 2010, Wordware Inc. will be sending your web-email low-balance notifications from a new server, utilizing a service called Streamsend. This technology assures that thousands of emails can go out in a timely manner without being labeled as spam. Daytime emails typically are sent individually by the central operator, using features in the Family Master or Statements area. These emails go out through the district email server, and rely on a correct setup of your server’s requirements. If you experience delivery issues from either system, please send an email to us, including if possible, the original bounced back email as an attachment, to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . This will allow us to extract original header information and speed troubleshooting. Back to top Question: What is the new IP address for Wordware Inc. since the website update of March 1, 2010? The IP address for our new server is 216.17.87.180. Answer: Yes, Wordware, Inc. is officially SIF Certified. Back to top Question: Do you have software that allows parents to check on their lunch balances? Answer: Yes. Our Web-Email module provides this feature. Schools can insert a link that allows parents to go and check their account – many schools have that link as part of their district website. The Web-Email module also gives the operator the option to send out Low Balance Statements via email. Back to top Question: Do you provide training? Answer: Yes. Whether Wordware training staff comes on-site or the training is held through a combination of phone and the Internet, Wordware staff is here to help at every step of the way. Wordware contains an Account funding module. The software allows schools to reduce costs by not having to chase down bad checks and provides parents with the ability to add money to their childs lunch account any time or place. Back to top Question: I want to log into my Web-Email on-line family account but I dont have my Family ID or Password. Where do I get this information from? Answer: Contact your school. They will have that information for you. Back to top Question: What happens during on-site training? Answer: Experience has shown that on-site trained schools spend significantly less time on starting up labor time. On-site training is designed for an unlimited number of personnel to attend, but groups of four or fewer trainee’s work best. The training personnel can assist with hardware and software installation. Training includes an initial meeting with administrators/decision makers to establish policies and procedures as needed, followed by working with your districts technical IT to install the software on the network, (if this applies) and installing all software on the computers. Training of the Central Operator, installing the point-of-sale devices, and Serving Line Operators completes the training. Back to top Question: My equipment doesn’t work, what do I do? Answer: Check with your schools IT. Call Wordware’s support team. If it is established that your equipment requires repair or replacement, Wordware can provide loaner equipment. The customer is charged for shipping and handling. A loaner program is included with the purchase of all point-of-sale devices. This program is provided to ensure that schools only experience the minimum of disruption. Back to top Question: I recently upgraded to a Windows 7 Operating System. My program, which is on the server, has started running VERY slowly. Is there anything that I can do? Answer: Make certain that all the most recent updates are installed on the operating system. Next, turn OFF Remote Differential Compression. (located under Control Panel- Programs-Turn Windows features on or off- uncheck the Remote Differential Compression). Restart the computer and you should see an improved performance. |
